Country Town Livin'

Papa has just finished workin' in is still.

Mama's back from paying a mercantile bill.

And I must wear a dress with no cute frill.

This Country Town Livin' sure's swell!

Jenny's down a coughin', not feelin' so well.

As "Hot Fingers" has his hand in grocers' till.

Grandpa's crunched down a homegrown dill.

This Country Town Livin' sure's swell!

Granny's snortin' 'an rockin' by winder sill.

Slim's caught a pond trout by its gill.

And there's a shotgun loaded for a deer kill.

This Country Town Livin' sure's swell!

Work's long 'an hard with sweat; can't 'ya tell?

Seems all we do is sow, plow, feed, 'an till.

We exchange town gossip from our rigs...'til..

This Country Town Livin' sure's swell!

Some oversized pigs a squeelin' we're to sell.

Gigglin' from the hayloft, but I'll never tell.

And chocolate puddin' faces waitin' dinner bell.

This Country Town Livin' sure's swell!

Granny just gulped with milk her bedtime pill.

Ma and Pa slipped away to bed without feelins' ill.

What's goin' to be next....ya'll can never tell.

This Country Town Livin' sure' swell!
