A Pumpkin in Poetry

During the Summer I am raised in a farmers' field.

With the soltice rains I put on a spurt of growth.

A strong nutritional balance gives me added weight.

It is not uncommon for me to cap off at 950 pounds.

My color being bright orange seems to delight youngins'

Usually I grow in such great numbers to stagger the mind.

What can people do with me so that I do not go to waste?

You know luckily for me, kids have a vivid imagination!

Kids go beyond moms usual of making pie out of me.

Creativity begins with carving a scary or funny face.

Wallah!  A lifelike, picturesque, colorful, showy Pumpkin!

There are now contests for the best Pumpkin Art.
